A few years ago, I was attending a Presbyterian church in Texas and was teaching a Sunday School class on science and the Bible. My husband at the time helped me out by making copies of my hand-outs when we got to the church - he'd run by the church office to make copies while I got set up to teach the class.
This was a conservative congregation but no one had a problem with me teaching a Sunday School class as long as I ran the general lesson plans by the pastor (which all teachers had to do). And no one had a problem with my husband supporting me.
I think a marriage is a partnership. Thank you for sharing the original Greek version of that Ephesians passage - it makes a lot more sense given that Paul, in other places, praises both the husband and wife (with her name mentioned first) in ministry teams. It seemed in the early church both genders were allowed to do the work and were praised for it. It's too bad that has changed...
