A kid’s in the hospital because he wore a MAGA hat
That’s NOT OK
I read a story today that made my blood boil. Probably a good reason to avoid the news, right? I mean, I want to read more heartwarming stories about puppies being rescued or people helping each other, not about kids beating each other up.
But, it is what it is. We live in a broken world and children are bullied, they are abused and they beat each other up.
According to this article, a 14 year old kid decided to wear a MAGA hat to school. Maybe this was ill advised, but, you know, he’s 14. Going through old yearbooks, teenagers once thought mullets were great. I wore enormous red glasses in high school. I thought they were cool. Now I know they just made me look like a dork.
Of course, a MAGA hat is not just a bad fashion choice, it’s also a political statement. A lot of people hate Trump. But, this is a kid. A 14 year old. Now he is in a hospital with head contusions. How is that OK?
There are people who will say, “The kid provoked it. He should have known better.” Sure. There are also people who say, “she should have known better than to dress like a slut” about women who get raped and people who say “he shouldn’t have been in a sundown town after dark” about black men getting lynched.
