A Perfect Day
Ghazals, Honeysuckle, Sunshine, and Neighbors
I decided to have a productive day today. I started with a quiet time — a few minutes of prayer, a few Bible verses. Then I walked around my house a few laps. Doesn’t seem like much, but the day after chemo it is a lot for my poor frail body. Mostly because my balance is so shaky. I can’t handle the mildest slope.
After a short rest and some tea, I wrote a few pages. After a shower, lunch, and a nap, I was ready to paint for the first time in over a year. Until last month, I could not even draw, but I’ve been knitting with large needles for a few months. That has slowly got me up to speed again to where I can sorta draw now. So I put on some happy music and drew the outline of spring flowers on canvas.
That was it. That was all I could manage. And… it was enough. Tomorrow I will splash on some color.
I felt joyful.
The sun was out. The weather was perfect. Not too warm, not too cold. Just right.
My honeysuckle was blooming and produced a heavenly fragrance that enveloped me as I sat on my front porch. I had a glass of lemonade that my Mom brought out to me. She knows it’s hard for me to carry things so she does it for me. She’s sweet like that.
