I have a soft spot for dogs. I hate to hear about them being abused.

So it’s with both sorrow and anger that I share the following stories of dogs that were abandoned by their owners. I’ve included links to videos that tell their stories. Fortunately each tale has a happy ending. To see the videos, just click on the underlined titles for each story.

Senior dog

This dog was 13 years old. You can see how hard it is for him to move quickly, yet he tries to follow his owner as she drives away. The cruelty astonished me. The dog would move heaven and earth to be with his person but she could care less about her loyal friend.

The owner doesn’t even drop the dog off at a shelter, but just dumps him in the woods.

Can you imagine how scared he must have felt? How helpless?

As someone who once adopted an elderly dog — they can make the best pets, particularly for people who love dogs but don’t have a lot of time.

Older dogs are already potty trained, won’t chew your slippers, and will already know a few commands. They tend to be gentle and are happy to cuddle with you instead of needing intense walks.
