All of the homeschooled children I know are very emotionally mature and confident, including the ones whose parents are religious. However, they are not isolated from the community at large.

It's really important for kids who are homeschooled to have access to friends - in real, meaningful ways, not just online.

My friends who homeschooled, including the religious ones, had their children participate in groups that they were interested in - such as sports teams, volunteer organizations, and with homeschool meetups.

My religious friends took their children to church - where they encountered kids who went to the public schools as well as those of diverse races.

I think it's very important that people who homeschool, whether it's for academics, for safety, or for cultural reasons, make sure their children encounter a variety of people because otherwise they will not know how to manage in our society.
