Also, wild animals such as bears, cougars, wolves, foxes, and coyotes are still fairly common in the Western United States. I once saw a fox from my window in Denver, I've heard coyotes howling here in Texas and once when hiking in Colorado a friend showed me cougar tracks. It's rare that people actually encounter them however.
