Are All Foods Really The Same?
How is being sick empowering?
The other day, I saw a video on Twitter:

In the video, one woman offers another a plate of donuts. The second woman says they are “so bad for you”. The first woman then chides her for judging food choices based on a false standard of health.
Then the video goes on to make some valid and good points — that we should not judge another’s choices and that obsessing over food can lead to unhealthy behavior, for example.
However, as someone who is dealing with cancer and whose mother has diabetes … I know first hand that there is a link between health and food choices. Why not make choices that enhance quality of life?
Unfortunately, lifestyle contributes to chronic conditions. The food people eat is part of that equation. This is one reason Michelle Obama was pushing for better food options in schools.
This is not about fat shaming, it’s about health. If you don’t want people to suffer from various conditions like cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, you’ll tell them to avoid the 64 ounce soda. It has 192 grams of sugar.
