Mom and I have been watching the news more than normal lately due to the ongoing devastation that has been happening, and continues to happen, in the Southeastern United States.

Areas that I visited and lived in when I was a young woman have suffered immensely — places like Asheville, North Carolina and Pickens County in South Carolina.

A good friend of mine who still lives in Pickens had to evacuate her home. She is fine, and stayed with relatives until today — her power came on after about 9 days finally. Of course she lost much of the food from her refrigerator, but at least she was fine and the damage to her property was not too bad.

Several friends who lived in Florida have had to evacuate. Fortunately my friend from the Raleigh area and his family are OK.

However, Mom and I look at the scenes we see on TV and we hear from other friends we know in the area… it’s immense.

I asked Mom, “Do you think this is the Kali-Yug?” I asked.

After correcting my pronounciation, she agreed that it was. In fact, when we talk about the world age we are in, she always says this is the final age.
