Body Worlds And Rage At My Ex
I was furious… and then I got over it
This morning I was discussing Body Worlds with my Mom. I had gone to see it when my ex and I visited the Houston Museum of Natural History in 2006.
We had an amazing time. I had only recently gotten over my first bout with cancer, and this was the first trip that I felt up for. It was a marvelous time.
In addition to enjoying the exhibits at the museum, we ate at our favorite French bistro, a laid back place with tall windows and jazz music.
At first, I wasn’t too keen on going to Body Worlds. All I knew about it was what a man told us while we were in the elevator. I looked at my ex and asked, “Do you think it will smell bad?”
I couldn’t imagine corpses not stinking.
But we went, and we loved it. The bodies in the exhibit had been preserved through plastination, which also allowed them to be moved into various positions until the polymers are eventually hardened.
The result is a hybrid of anatomy and art. I found it fascinating, intriguing, and often beautiful.
