The Communion Table at my Church, Grace Presbyterian, Today

Today was World Communion Sunday. Originally started by a Presbyterian minister, it is currently celebrated by several different denominations. The goal is to promote Christian unity with our brothers and sisters throughout the world.

When I walked in and saw the communion spread, I felt so happy to see so many different countries represented. When I looked at the program, I noticed that our guest speaker that day was a lady from Uganda. We also had speakers and worship leaders from Ghana, Kenya and the Sudan, and we had music in English, Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Swahili, Russian, Hebrew, Ewe and Arabic.

Just seeing the many flags and hearing the many languages reminded me that when it comes to God’s love, there are no borders. Maybe we Christians live in different countries and speak different languages and have different flags… but when it comes to the love of God we are united.

I greeted my friends and found a seat. I sang with the congregation, and prayed.

Then our guest speaker went to the podium.
