BTW, did you read the article I wrote on racism and gun control?

One reason I am against gun control is that I have studied history. One way that elites control the masses - only the elite have access to weapons.

That is how the samurai kept control, and why there are so man types of martial arts from countries like Japan and China - the commoners developed those techniques to defend themselves.

In America, Martin Luther King Jr. was denied a permit to carry a gun because "he was not of good character" - the real reason - he was black.

I'm OK with reasonable limits that make sense, like raising the age to 21 for those who want to purchase a gun. I am not OK with going against the Constitution because, if you read WHY the framers put the 2nd amendment in there...

and I've done a lot of reading. I've read John Locke, The Federalist Papers, Hobbes, Edmund Burke, etc. There are actual reasons for why things were set up the way they were.

For example - why do we have the legal system where a person is innocent until proven guilty, why do we have a jury of peers, etc.? Why do we have three branches of government?

A great deal of thought was put into these things.

And, there weren't lobbyists then. Because human beings are falliable, of course there was politics and people vying for power. That was actually one reason for the Presidential salary - John Page of VA wanted to insure that the President would not be susceptible to corruption out of poverty and Alexander Hamilton did not want Congress to be able to be influenced by bribery so he wanted to remove the power of congress to increase the President's salary once he was in office.
