BTW, I was very glad to have cash on hand when the power was out while I was on vacation. The clerk said he couldn't ring me up but I showed him how to calculate the tax with a pen and paper, then paid in cash for my sandwich and walked out. He could not take a card because, no power, but he did take cash!
