Cancer Markers Now At Zero
Medical staff say I’m still not out of the woods though
I was diagnosed with metastatic brain cancer over 2 years ago. This is considered terminal and the focus is on extending lifespan and alleviating symptoms. According to the medical journals, by the time someone receives a diagnosis, they have months to live.
That is what my surgeon told me after the brain surgery that removed my tumor. He anticipated that I had about 6 months to live and that the last month or two would be spent in hospice.
A study conducted in 2018 on 145 people revealed most dying within a year of their brain metastases being diagnosed. After 2 years, only 1.4% were still alive. That puts me in a very narrow field.
I therefore find myself deeply grateful to God for my life. It feels like nothing short of a miracle, and I find myself praising God throughout the day.
What makes this even more amazing — I was also diagnosed with metastatic lung and liver cancer and at one point the cancer had spread to my bones.
Today I got the results of a blood marker test, Signatera, which is fairly cutting edge. My medical team believes it to be the most accurate one out there for detecting my type of cancer. Today’s results showed a value of 0.0. In other words, no detectable…
