Cats Are Great
Mine gives me comfort when I don’t feel well
As some of you may know, I am fighting cancer.
Thanks to that, I am often tired and I spend a lot more time resting than I used to. I just don’t have a lot of energy these days.
Unfortunately, that has limited my time with my dog. I miss him tons and I hope that my energy levels improve so I could have him back full-time, but right now I can’t handle it.
However, my cat provides me with the same unconditional love but without large demands on my energy. If I play with her for a few minutes a couple of times a day and provide her with copious lap time, she’s happy. My mom also plays with her. She is a pet that even my elderly mother can help care for.
Today I woke up with my back aching. I felt grumpy and a little sad.
Then, while having my morning tea, Opal jumped up and cuddled against my leg. She just purred and purred. It made me feel so much better.
Now while I type this article, she is sleeping nearby. Her warm fluffy body is the epitome of comfort. That is maybe one lesson we can learn from cats. They indulge in the pleasure of naps in warm, comfortable spots close to people they love.
