Celebrating Thanksgiving Abroad
What to do if you’re stranded in Oz, Veracruz or London
Some holidays are somewhat universal. For example, if you celebrate Christmas, you’re in luck. Even countries that didn’t traditionally observe the holiday often have some commemoration. Same with Valentine’s Day, oddly enough — in fact, the religious police were cracking down in some Islamic countries because lovers were exchanging flowers and gifts for that holiday.
Other holidays are very specific to a particular country. Such is the case with the American holiday dedicated to food, family feuds, and football. In other words, Thanksgiving.
