Celebrating Thanksgiving Abroad

Some holidays are somewhat universal. For example, if you celebrate Christmas, you’re in luck. Even countries that didn’t traditionally observe the holiday often have some commemoration. Same with Valentine’s Day, oddly enough — in fact, the religious police were cracking down in some Islamic countries because lovers were exchanging flowers and gifts for that holiday.

Other holidays are very specific to a particular country. Such is the case with the American holiday dedicated to food, family feuds, and football. In other words, Thanksgiving.

Some people therefore choose not to honor this day. I still celebrate it, however, as a feast to give thanks and to spend time with family and friends. Honestly, at least for myself, I’ve got a lot to be thankful for.
