Chinese COVID cases exploding
The world could be in trouble
Note: It is NOT OK to be racist toward Chinese people. Racism against individuals for the actions of their government is WRONG. The problem is the leadership, not individual people.
COVID-19 originated in China. Unfortunately for efforts to contain the virus during the early days of the pandemic, the Chinese government maintained a campaign of disinformation. This included the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) detaining whistleblowers and journalists to prevent them from “spreading rumors”.
Many Chinese individuals tried to get the truth out in a timely fashion. They were silenced by their government.
One such whistleblower was Dr. Li Wenliang, who was only 34 years old when he died after being infected with the virus. He warned colleagues on social media about the virus in late December and was detained by Wuhan police on January 3rd. He was punished for trying to raise the alarm.
If he and other whistle-blowers had been taken seriously, might we have been able to contain the pandemic? If the CCP had not attempted to hide information from the world, how many lives could have been saved?
Now, it seems as though history is repeating itself.
