Comfortable bed sheets

I used to just buy whatever bed sheets were on sale, in neutral colors. Then, a few years ago, while in New York City, we happened upon a sidewalk sale. A man sold us a set of 1000 count Egyptian cotton sheets from the back of a truck. When we got home and I tried them out — OMG! I became a convert.

While you’ll spend more for better sheets, the comfort they provide is truly worth it, up to a point. At least, that’s my opinion, particularly recently.

You see, back in April I was diagnosed with metastatic brain cancer. Due to that, at least for the first few months after my surgery, I was spending a lot more time in bed. And found myself darn grateful for having comfy sheets.

So, what makes for good bedding? There are several factors to consider. These include material, thread count, weave, finishing, and, of course color and/or print. Then there is the dreaded fitted sheet option… which I like, except it’s hard to fold them so they don’t look like a samosa. (Mmmm, samosa…)

Of these, I’d say the material used is the most important consideration in terms of finding sheets that meet your needs.
