Dating Used To Be Fun

Since I’m not up-to-date, I still had fun even over 50

When I was in college, dating was fun. At least, I had a blast.

Sex was never really on the table. It’s not that people weren’t having it, but it wasn’t a requirement. There were no “three dates and then sex” rules.

Most of my friends didn’t have sex until they were in a serious relationship. Some of them waited until they were engaged or married. A few slept around and that was fine too. They had a reputation but it wasn’t necessarily a bad one — they were having fun. One thing that was hilarious — if one of these girls then got engaged to someone in a frat, all of the frat brothers would insist she was pure as the driven snow prior to that event.

I thought that was silly, as was the idea of getting engaged in college.

I was having fun dating and was too young to be tied down. Both literally and emotionally.

I was only 16 when I started college and there was no way I was getting married before I was 21. I didn’t get married until I was 30. I matured slowly and any sooner would have been a disaster.

But dating was a lot of fun.

Back when I was in college, men actually asked women out on dates and the idea was for us to enjoy each others’…
