Do You Want Your Partner To Do His Share of the Housework?

Then don’t date slovenly, lazy men

Before I got married the first time, I dated a lot of men. I enjoyed getting to know them and I liked going out and doing fun things.

However, when it came time to settle down… I got more picky.

One thing that I noticed — how well a man took care of himself and his surroundings.

The first time I visited my ex’s apartment, I was impressed by how neat and clean he kept it. Now, I know some of that may be a man’s attempt to impress his date. However, after the first few dates, the reality usually comes out. That’s when you notice the piece of grilled cheese under the couch or the overflowing trash bin.

My ex’s place was always clean.

And he was a good cook too. He liked to do it and would throw together absolutely lovely meals for us. I like to cook, as well, so, once we were married, we would take turns cooking. Whoever didn’t cook got to do the clean-up.

When we moved to a house, he did more of the housework, but I did more of the yardwork since I liked being outdoors. I grew an herb garden, flowers, and vegetables as well as trimming hedges. I built the brick enclosure for the herb garden using bricks.
