Eating To Fight Cancer

Vegetables play a starring role and so do healthy oils

Dinner tonight — the peppers are from my garden and the hummus is home made

Part of fighting cancer includes eating so that I nourish my body and give it what it needs to combat the disease.

According to this site, some of the best veggies include:

  • Tomatoes
  • Broccoli
  • Carrots
  • Kale
  • Cabbage

In the plate above, which was my dinner this evening, the top three veggies are part of the meal. So is an organic red pepper I just harvested from my garden before washing, chopping, and adding to the plate.

All of the veggies are organic and non-GMO. The pepper and cherry tomatoes are from my own garden. The hummus is homemade using healthy organic ingredients.

A friend of mine told me that organic doesn’t necessarily mean more nutritious. I pointed out to him that it does mean pesticide free. Pesticides are a carcinogen. Why would I want to add those to my body?

For lunch, I had a homemade minestrone soup which included dark leafy greens. The only super-nutrient I didn’t have today was cabbage, but I had my mother’s Indian-cooked cabbage and peas for dinner last night.
