My dog Annie, the kindest dog I’ve ever known

Many people are going through rough times these days. Natural disasters have hit Hawaii and California as well as Mexico and China. People worldwide face economic fears.

Here in the United States, people are paying a lot more for groceries and gas. For many, this is causing real hardship, particularly if they are anxious about losing their jobs or not being able to find one.

Then there are also illnesses that affect many. It’s hard not to be down when your body is in pain. Whether it’s arthritis or cancer — it can be hard not to feel down when you are dealing with being sick.

Given the many stresses we all have in our lives, what can we do? And what can we do to support others going through tough times?

First of all, let’s get our own house in order.

For myself, as a Christian, when I’ve faced rough times, I often turn to God, talking honestly with Him.

However, sometimes the situation hits me so hard that I have a tough time praying. Then I reach out to friends for comfort. Often they will pray with me, or offer encouragement and sympathy in other ways.

This is something we are commanded to do for each other:
