Even if you are fully vaccinated and have gotten a booster, you can still get COVID. However, you are less likely to die than an unvaccinated person. Therefore, if you choose not to get vaccinated - the person you are most risking is yourself.

I compare this choice to smoking. The person most harmed is the smoker, followed by his or her loved ones. Yet despite how deadly smoking can be, we haven't outlawed it.

Of course businesses can ban smoking on their premises. I and many people I know refuse to allow smoking in our homes or cars. This is a personal choice, however, and not a government mandate.

I totally support people and businesses having requirements re. masks or vaccines but I'm not in favor of a federal mandate. It's a slippery slope and any student of history knows how easily things can go wrong.
