Facebook Using Humorless Fact Checkers from Taiwan, Apparently

I had a joke post flagged for being misinformation…

The above photo was making the rounds in Texas because it’s SO DARNED HOT.

The photo is obviously meant as a joke. It gave those of us suffering from the heat a chance to laugh about what we are going through. It was not meant to be serious.

In fact, later in my post, when a friend pointed out that the picture was false, I agreed with him and explained that it was meant to be A JOKE. In other words, the picture was obviously exaggerating what was going on to make a point that we Texans (and all others undergoing this heat wave) could laugh at.

However, apparently some Facebook fact checkers apparently based in Taiwan objected to my joke, not understanding that it was, in fact, a joke. Apparently they didn’t bother to read how I even explained this further on in the post.

I don’t have an issue with fact-checkers from other countries but if they are going to fact-check American (or British, or French, or Malaysian) FB, it would be nice if they knew enough about the culture in question to understand when someone was making a joke.

I still remember, years ago, being banished from FB for 24 hours for SARCASTICALLY saying something…
