Falling Down Used To Be Fun

This picture was taken when I wasn’t worried about falling. I was 28 I believe?

Yesterday I fell down while trying to fill my bird feeder and water my plants. And then I couldn’t get up. It was totally embarrassing, a little scary, and frankly no fun. I write about it here:

However, once upon a time I wasn’t past the half century mark. And falling down was much more fun.

Of course there were the times I was a young child.

Basically, when you’re a toddler, you just bounce. As you get older, skinned knees and bruises start to make falling less fun, but in the process you’re learning to do fun things like riding a bike.

I still remember how much fun I had when I first learned to ski, when I was in my 20s.

I was living in South Carolina at the time.

I had met a guy at a professional conference who wanted to date me. He was cute and we had some great conversations during breaks so when he asked to take me skiing I said sure.

It meant we had to drive up to North Carolina — which was part of the fun. I loved road…
