Given how gloriously beautiful much of California is, and how great the weather is, and the fact that you can enjoy the beach AND the mountains, have some of the best restaurants in San Francisco, plus all the other cultural benefits, that you can hike through the redwoods... whereas in Texas you're dealing with miserably hot summers, fire ants, rattlesnakes and so on... why would ANYONE move to Texas?

As Davy Crockett said, "Y'all can go to hell, I'm going to Texas" (I paraphrased a bit there).

Yet, despite the many advantages of CA over TX.... People vote with their feet. If you look at where people are moving... they are not moving to California.
