God Encompasses All Genders
There are no limits to God according to the Bible
The first time I had a meal with my friend Josephine, I asked her if it would be alright if I said grace. This is a habit I have and it’s important to me, but I want to be respectful of other people, so I ask instead of assume.
My friend’s brow wrinkled momentarily.
“Would it be alright with you if I pray? I always pray to a feminine deity,” she said.
“Sure,” I said. “That’s fine with me.”
The only thing I cared about was saying “thank you” to God for the meal provided. I like to do that because I think it’s important to show gratitude.
There are people in the world who go to bed hungry. There have been times I’ve been too poor to afford more expensive items, but even as a broke graduate student I was never hungry. So I consider myself blessed.
I also don’t find it offensive that someone addresses God as “Mother” instead of “Father”.
It makes no sense to me that God would be restricted by gender.
Other religious traditions hint at the unity of God when it comes to gender.
