Gosh, that would drive me nuts! I am a former New Yorker, and I totally get it. It would make me livid to see people litter in Central Park and to make African Americans uncomfortable in their own churches! Plus yes, it’s ridiculous to interfere with people trying to go to work and so on.

Hopefully when I was traveling recently in Europe I was not as bad. I know I was not (I didn’t litter, etc.) but I might have unintentionally interfered with traffic by accidentally crossing where I shouldn’t, etc. But I think that is the type of thing — if someone is doing their best and accidentally does something wrong people are more forgiving then when someone isn’t even trying, or does something that pretty much every culture knows is rude!
