Having A Simple Christmas

My energy levels insist I minimize

Last night I went to a Christmas jazz concert starting the amazing Aubrey Logan. It was wonderful. The artist sang many secular holiday songs along with a couple of her own original compositions and two religious songs. The ensemble included saxophones, a trumpet, a bass player, a keyboard, and drums. Aubrey played trombone in addition to singing.

I had a wonderful time but… afterward, I was exhausted.

I am still going through treatments for my cancer. I was diagnosed with type IV brain cancer in April of 2021. While I’ve beaten the odds so far, I am still very tired much of the time.

Some days the only way I can get through the day is by taking naps. I sleep more than my cat some days. If you’ve ever had a cat, you know that is a lot!

I love Christmas, so I’m planning to enjoy the holidays. But I’ll be doing it differently this season.

I’m not buying gifts. I am paying medical bills and don’t have much left over. However, I did give a few special people paintings I created a while back, like the painting above.

I painted them when my hands still worked. Now, they don’t work that well.

I hope to regain functionality, but it takes time. For a while, I could barely…
