Having Good Neighbors
It makes a big difference
So today I was having a rough day. I’m still really tired, but also pretty happy.
I’ve been really tired the last few days, since my last immunotherapy session. I almost fainted and I’m apparently dealing with some issues with low blood pressure. I’ve upped my intake of electrolytes and that seems to help.
But it’s made it hard for me to get around and I have to be careful. I’m feeling worn out.
Then I noticed that my neighbors were having a huge cookout.
According to the wife, they are second-generation from Mexico. She and I both love to read, and we both love animals. Her menagerie is larger than mine— two German Shepherds, two cats, and a large fluffy bunny. Also two well-behaved children.
It’s for the daughter that the cookout is going on. I found this out when the wife knocked on my door.
“We’re selling tacos to raise money for my daughter’s school. Would you like some?” she asked.
“How much are they?” I asked, a bit wary since I’m watching my pennies.
“Oh, no charge,” she said. “We just thought you might like some.”
It warmed my heart. She and her family know I’ve been dealing with cancer. I’m physically fragile and financially…
