I was 14 or 15 years old. I lived in Queens but commuted to Manhattan for school. I was on the cross country team in high school and we ran the loop in Central Park twice every afternoon after school. I loved to be out in nature and enjoyed running but I was not particularly competitive. So on nice days, I’d sometimes stop and take a break to enjoy the beauty.

Central Park is an interesting place if you want to people watch.

One time a friend of mine and I were sitting having a picnic and a statuesque, naked black woman strolled past. Maybe she was German? I’ve hard that Germans sometimes nude sunbathe in the park.

Other times I’d seen famous people, like Isaac Asimov (famous to me, at least, as I loved science fiction), or models working on a shoot, or wedding parties.

One day, while taking a break from my run, I was confronted by a flasher.

It was a fairly secluded part of the park and at first I didn’t see him. I was focused on the sun shining through the trees.

Then I saw something from the corner of my eye.

A man in a trench coat.
