Healthy Juicing

Part of my anti-cancer regimen

One thing I don’t do as much as I used to is make my own fresh juice. The first time I had cancer, I was juicing a pound of carrots a day as well as other veggies and also making citrus juice once a day. However, I wasn’t the one doing the actual juicing — my husband at the time did it.

And I believed it was one of the things that made a huge difference in how well I did despite having been diagnosed with a truly aggressive form of cancer.

It was inflammatory breast cancer, and I was given 6 months to live. I looked at research papers, and, at the time (this was 20 years ago) the life expectancy was grim. 85% of those diagnosed would be dead within 18 months according to the medical journals.

The fact that I am still alive is sorta a miracle. I’ve only met one other person who survived this long after having this type of cancer.

Part of what inspired me to try juicing — my own father’s story.

After my Dad lost 90% of his house after a massive heart attack, Mom started making him juice every morning for breakfast. He had a big glass of juice instead of cereal and milk. He still had his coffee, after he finished his juice.
