Hi! I liked your article, and it made me think, so I wanted to thank you for that. I love it when I am foced to think. but I would like to point out a few things - in the past, America really was a rags-to-riches place, which is partly why it attracted more immigrants than any other country.

Andrew Carnegie, for example, started as a poor boy. So was John D. Rockefeller, Jack London, Colonel Sanders, Elvis Presley and Cornelius Vanderbilt. In more modern times - Whoopi Goldberg, Ed Sheeran, Halle Berry and many others were dirt poor at one point. Literally. Sheeran slept in subway stations and Berry slept in a homeless shelter. Dolly Parton grew up poor in Appalachia and Sarah Jessica Parker's family couldn't afford electricity.

Things have changed in more recent times, but one reason my parents immigrated to the United States - he could do much better economically. So the question is - why are things different now?

As far as life expectancy - at the turn of the last century (1900) Americans were among the tallest people in the world and had among the best life expectancies. Again, that was then, this is now -and the question is - what has changed?
