I agree with you to some extent. Virginity exists, just like biological genders. The presence of hermaphrodites does not negate the fact that the vast majority of people are male or female, and the hymenal irregularities do not negate virginity. Most people understand what it means to be a virgin.

But the author makes a valid point that it is appalling for a father to publicly humiliate his daughter.

Children start off dependent, but at some point they reach independence and self-actualization. A young child does not have the same need for privacy and boundaries that an older child does. However, as the child becomes an adult, he or she needs to be respected as an individual. Parents who fail to do this engender resentment in the child. Even if the daughter is still financially dependent on the father, he should not humiliate her.

As far as some of the results of free love — a friend of mine told me that in college these days there are girls competing with boys in trying to score as many lovers as possible. But I hesitate to use the term lovers. That implies love, an emotional connection, not mindless physical friction.

As our society has become more sexualized, it has become less erotic.

As someone who is essentially libertarian, I am all for women (and men) wanting sexual pleasure. Women are not inferior to men and women have just as much right to sexual pleasure. But what many in the various movements forget — with rights come responsibilities. Strong, powerful people — whether male or female — should not use their power in abusive ways. I think there’s even a superhero movie about that… LOL
