I am of Indian heritage. several years ago, I remember going to an Indian male doctor because I had a high fever and some other symptoms. He diagnosed me hastily, and incorrectly. when I continued to get worse, I went back to him and again, got misdiagnosed. then I went to a white male doctor and he properly diagnosed an infection that could have rendered me infertile if not treated. He was extremely competent even though he was gruff.

However, since then, I've had Indian female doctors who are absolutely wonderful, as well as an Indian male surgeon. Lesson learned - all races and genders have both good and bad doctors. I no longer expect a doctor to be particularly attentive just because we share a common heritage or gender.

I am sure there are absolutely wonderful black female doctors out there, but as with any group, not everyone is great. It sorta sucks that the gyn took so long to get back to you! That is horrible.
