I am really glad you wrote this. I learned something — I had never known about the patty-rollers or the origins of the word patrol before. As someone who loves history, I will try to find those songs, even though I know they will be repugnant.

I actually wrote an article in defense of the 2nd Amendment, where I discuss the history of being black and armed in America.

The thing is, if we really believe in our ideals as a country we must make sure that the rights of blacks are just as protected and just as important as the rights of everyone else. I really don’t understand how anyone can defend the shooting of an unarmed man fleeing regardless of his skin color, or the murder of a jogger, or to go back to Tamir Rice, the murder of a child.
