Last night my character got to 6th level. I was able to add a second feat. I already had Sharpshooter for my Fighter. Now I added Crossbow Expert. I had to trade in my longbow for a hand crossbow, which means instead of using a d8, I now use a d6 for combat. But it’s worth it. The math works out.

Using the Crossbow Expert feat in conjunction with my Sharpshooter and my Warrior Class Action Surge means that now, once per short rest, I can do a sequence of 5 attacks.

To show how potentially powerful this can be… last night we sneaked up on a wizard. I’m not sure what his level was, but since he was able to transform other players into sheep, I suspect it was pretty high.

Nevertheless, by sneaking up on him I got to attack before he knew I was there, and because of my Warrior class, I got to hit him three times in succession. Thanks to my Sharpshooter feat, this meant that I did an extra 10 damage to him on each hit. I managed to hit him each time and even though I just rolled about average on my d8, with the extra piercing damage and my Sharpshooter damage, my hits totaled to 58. That wizard was dead before he knew what hit him.

With my new abilities, I’d be able to hit him 5 times in a row. The total damage I can do will go down — the average would be 7…
