I Buy Too Much From Amazon

With my health issues, though, I often have no other options

During the worst of COVID, many people started relying on delivery services and Amazon, Ubereats, DoorDash, etc., really profited. Now more and more people are going to restaurants, grocery stores, etc., but I still order most of my stuff from Amazon.

The reason is not because I want to support Jeff Bezos. I don’t. I’d much rather support local Mom and Pop businesses. However, after I got cancer again about 2 years ago I found it hard to get around.

In fact, because I had a lemon sized brain tumor that was surgically extracted, I was forbidden by my doctors from driving for a year. They didn’t want me to have a seizure while driving. I agreed with them because the last thing I need is the guilt of killing someone or injuries to myself.

However, that made me dependent on friends for rides, which I am happy to ask for when it comes to picking up medications or going to the doctor. However, if I need lightbulbs or my favorite tea — I go on Amazon or get delivery from my local supermarket.

I feel guilty about this because I would rather support my local businesses, but the reality is that while dealing with cancer, I often can’t. I also have read about the way Amazon treats employees, and find many of…
