I can relate to your story. My husband left me 2 years ago after I had a mastectomy. I’m 51, overweight and have one breast. I decided to put myself out there but didn’t expect any luck. I figured I’d try, fail and join a convent. But I ended up having a blast and met lots of great guys. I also came across some real duds. But it was a lot better than I thought it would be.

I recently wrote a couple of articles about my experiences with online dating:

One other thing that worked for me, that’s not in the articles — I did meetups. Given your description of the men on your local dating sites — finding men in real life might be a better option, and meetups are a great way to do that.

Another thing worth considering if you haven’t already — date younger men. For some reason, I often found it easier to connect with men 10 years younger then men my age. I think sometimes women maintain better energy and joie de vivre as we get older and men our age can’t keep up.

I hope you don’t mind me sharing. You sound like a really cool person. Maybe you should consider moving to the States… I think your accent would get you a lot of interest over here!
