I don't find her actions either heroic OR embarrassing. She did the right thing, however. The moves she made could have led to serious injury given that her balance was off. So she was smart to protect herself, and also she probably did the best thing for her team by not bringing them down with her. So... good for her. She's a young woman who has been under a lot of stress and for sure the rest of us don't need to add to that.
