I don't really care if everyone knows who Hagrid is.

I'm a traditional liberal, though. Being a liberal used to mean you were for freedom - including the freedom to express yourself.

As a traditional liberal, I may disagree with what you say but I defend your right to say it.

So, yes, I am against banning books.

The ONLY reason I hesitate when it comes to books in public schools - there may be books that parents feel are not appropriate for their child.

I'm not talking about sex. When I was a kid, my little brother got really scared by the Wizard of Oz because of the flying monkeys.

There are books that a 14 year old can read without issues that might be hard for a 6 year old - for example, would we want a little child to be exposed to the full horrors of the Holocaust?

Emotionally, children are not able to deal with some of the things we have to face as adults.

For that reason, I do understand why in grade school, some books might not be in the library. By high school though, there is no reason not to allow any book. JMHO
