I have a black friend who used to take business trips to Japan. He generally enjoyed it except he said every time his co-workers would take him out, they'd want to do karaoke and insist he sing Michael Jackson songs. He felt a bit uncomfortable but went along with it anyway.

I think sometimes people just aren't self-aware. And while they may not mean any harm by it, racism is not OK and there is nothing wrong with pointing that out.
