I have a different experience. I happily eat Indian food with my fingers. I’ll say to my white friends, “Hope it’s OK, but I eat Indian food with my hands”, and they never say anything.

Maybe it’s different because I’m in America. Most of my white friends love Indian food but I love all different types of cuisine — I will eat Ethiopian and tacos with my fingers, Japanese with chopsticks, pasta with a fork and spoon, etc. I just do whatever makes sense and I’ve never had an issue.
