No… I honestly shared an incident that happened to me. A few other friends who lived in NYC at the time told me that similar things have happened to them — they were mugged by people who initially asked for directions. Apparently this was a thing back in the ’80s. I didn’t realize it at the time.

Many of the articles I write on here are based on events in my own life. I don't change the skin color of the people involved, I tell it like it actually happened.

The skin color of the man in the subway in this particular story is a descriptor, not an indictment. It is no different than if I’d had a hit and run with a red car and then described the car as being red, or if I had been bitten by a white poodle as a child and then described the dog as it actually was.
