I listen to music for free on YouTube. Also radio stations still exist - they may not play your perfect playlist, but they are free. When I was a kid, I'd just record the music I wanted off the radio on a cassette tape. Friends of mine who have lots of CDs send me stick drives with music and I return the favor. There is also the library - some have music as well as books.
