I lost 40 hours of my life
Thanks to drug/supplement interactions
I have been a cancer survivor now for almost 20 years. It will be 20 years in January.
I was originally diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. At the time, I was in my 30s and the survival rates for that type of cancer were grim. 85% of patients died before 18 months.
Instead of sticking to the “normal” treatment options, I decided to use supplements, exercise, etc., to treat the cancer. It helped me to get stronger and was probably the reason I got through the chemo and radiation when I went through it.
So when I got metastatic brain cancer a little over 2 1/2 years ago, I started doing supplements again.
The problem was — cancer treatment has come a long way. There are a lot more drugs that they can give you to relieve symptoms from treatment. And I was glad to take the meds because, why would I want pain?
And this was fine when I wasn’t doing cancer treatments.
And it was fine with the original chemo drugs. But then they changed one of my drugs on me and my body rebelled HARD against the drug. Worse, it caused bad interactions with one of my supplements.
I ended up being taken to the emergency room last Wednesday night.
