I Lost 50 Pounds In 7 Months While Fighting Cancer

Thanks to medical records, I have accurate blood markers as well as accurate vital stats

I have metastatic cancer. One of the benefits to fighting cancer — I know a lot more about my blood than I ever had before. Every week while I am going through treatment, I get everything measured. My O2 stats, my glucose levels, my blood counts, etc.

Because I’m a geek, I had to look up what all the abbreviations meant, like LDH levels.

For the last 6 weeks, I’ve also been doing chemo, which means every week I get a full blood panel as well as measurements of my weight, blood pressure, temp, heart rate, and O2 levels.

I know more about my inner workings than I ever did before.

One thing that surprised me — I’ve lost 50 pounds in the last 7 months.

Prior to the chemo, I was only getting my blood and vitals checked once or twice a month, depending on what else was being done. But thanks to easily accessible medical records, I can easily find and chart all of the information on a spread sheet.

Being a geek, I find this fun.
