I really enjoy the discussions we have!
I think writing is a bit different than something like watercolors. However, even with painting, control IS essential AT SOME POINT. But people need to learn to take risks and lose control in order to give rein to passion, emotion, inspiration, etc. Then they can learn the techniques to give structure to their creativity.
So I think I was talking more about imagination. But without tapping into that, art is not meaningful no matter how technically exquisite it is. Of course, at some point the artist has to learn to become a master craftsman as well. Technical expertise is needed to communicate one’s vision… but first you have to have a vision and that is where imagination comes in.
What do you think?
