I think a prenup is a good idea, it is an alternative to pre-marital counseling. which couples should do just to make sure they really are on the same page with regards to sex, money, children, etc. the stuff that can later cause problems.

Re. alimony - I think it totally makes sense if, for example, the couple decided that one parent would stay home with the kids - thus giving up career advancement for X number of years. In that case, yeah, that person should get alimony for a couple of years while they get back on track. But if both people work, then no, alimony is not necessary. Instead of child support - do a joint custody. Right now too often men are alienated from children. And children should not be used as leverage.
