I think it's because China is a huge market, so some formerly cruelty-free brands are reintroducing animal testing. I hate it.

I frankly try to boycott Chinese goods as much as possible partly because of this issue. In addition to the heinous dog and cat markets and the general cruelty towards animals the Chinese government has also invaded Tibet, has persecuted the Falun Gong, Uighars and Christians, and so much more. I can't in good conscience support any of that.
