I was going to write the same thing… I grew up in the 70s and 80s and when I was in grade school, we got a snack in the morning, then lunch at noon. After school, Mom always had a small snack. Sometimes after dinner, while we watched TV we might have ice-cream. However, the size of these snacks was pretty small — it was a cup of milk in school (and that stopped after grade school) and the snack I had after school was typically also a glass of milk and either fruit or a cookie.

However, one thing I remember as a kid (and I was a skinny kid) — we were all pretty active. We walked to school, we played games at recess, and when we got home from school, after our snack, we generally played outside for an hour before starting our homework. And I was a bookish, nerdy kid, I am sure other kids were more active than I was!
